I started this blog with a gentle nudge from The Craphammer. Contrary to my nature I began without a plan (not that planning always gets me very far along the path). It's taken me over a week to come up with a second post and I can't promise that this one will clarify my direction, but it's all about the process of "tuning in", isn't it?
I had a hazy thought while half-asleep last night about what I could do here. It had something to do with creativity and direction and "planlessness". I'm quite certain it was something witty (aren't all those semi-conscious thoughts brilliant?). But it's gone.
So I was considering a few areas I might explore. Though it now seems like an obvious subject, today's area of exploration began accidentally...
Music. I was reading Craphammer this morning, which led me to Hee-Haw Marketing where Paul has a weekly music post called "Tune In Saturdays" (any coincidence that I'm a believer in "Tuning In"?). This week's band is "Tacks, the boy disaster" out of Austin Texas. Read the post for more details. Their music is great.
It occurred to me that in my late teens and early 20s I would often pick up a copy of CMJ new music magazine. It came with a CD with all kinds of new music from Fado to Metal to Qawali to College Radio gems.
I was a music junky and CMJ gave me what I wanted. I would go through the CD and find the stuff that got to me and then I'd go out and buy a couple? a few? many? CDs. I was a record peddler's dream. I still have to carry many of those hundreds of CDs with me from apartment to apartment. They're hard to part with.
I imagine music could be an ongoing source of exploration here, but I make no promises. I can tell you that I'll continue to check out "Tune In Saturdays" at Hee-haw and I'll be reporting anything of interest back here.
Tune In someday soon when I accidentally explore something else.

Congrats, Alex!
I love the "no plan" approach and greatly look forward to seeing this space evolve!
P.S. We believe that Paul from Hee Haw has been abducted by transvestite snicker bar worshippers. If he makes it back, I'm sure he'll come over and post a comment. ;)

I barely made it back. Unfortunately, now I have also become a snickers scarfing transvestite.
It's a little awkward to wear high heels, but at least the dress fits good. :)
Anyway, welcome to the blogosphere Alex! If you want to listen to some new stuff, check out the lower right sidebar over at Hee Haw. You'll see all the older bands covered there, as well.
Thanks!
